1. Addons for Affliction Warlock
1.1. Generic Addons for Warlocks
1.2. ElvUI
ElvUI is a complete replacement for the default User Interface. Not onlyis this a popular AddOn among top players, but we here at Icy Veins use itfor all our characters. ElvUI eliminates most of the inefficiencies of theBlizzard interface, which are many and varied. It is extremely user-friendly,and takes very little time to set up and master. It also comes alreadyfurnished with almost everything you need; unit frames, raid frames, minimap, buffs and debuffs, and much more. You can easily unlock and drag all thecomponents around so your UI will look exactly the way you want it to. ElvUIis clean, easy to use, and a great starting point for your UI.
1.3. Weak Auras
Weak Auras is the most important AddOn for players seeking to master theirclass and take their gameplay to new heights. If you aspire to do any Mythicraiding, this is the most powerful tool in your kit. Weak Auras allows you todisplay helpful visuals cues anywhere on your screen, which enable you toplay better. Most players use it to track their trinket procs, highlight onscreen displays of their most important cooldowns, or track the timers ofboss mechanics. It is highly customisable and makes keeping track of yourprocs and cooldowns effortless. The drawback of Weak Auras is that is has abit of a learning curve and isn't the most user-friendly. Weak Auras allowsyou to import other players data directly into their UI, however, and mostplayers choose to simply import other people's Weak Auras rather than maketheir own. Weak Auras can be used to create just about anything you canimagine, as it is a LUA scripting tool (essentially an AddOn that createsother AddOns, in-game). This is by far the most essential AddOn for playerslooking to step into Mythic raiding.
1.4. Boss Mods
Boss Mods are helpful pre-made timers that allow you to keep track of thenoteworthy mechanics in any given encounter. Usually, they come equipped withhelpful prompts, visuals, and sounds to ensure you don't miss anythingimportant.
1.4.1. BigWigs Bossmods
BigWigs is the best boss mod available currently. It is extremelycustomizable, allowing you to change what is displayed on an individual bosslevel and how boldly you want each alert customized. BigWigs is typically themost accurate and periodically updated of the available Boss Mods. It doesn'trequire any setup at all, though there are a dizzying array of options andcustomizations should you wish to personalize your setup.
1.4.2. Deadly Boss Mods
Deadly Boss Mods is an alternative to BigWigs, though it usually isn't asaccurate early in the patch. Most of the alerts are loud and flashy bydefault, making this a potentially good choice for players who have verylittle experience in a raid environment.
1.5. Name Plates
Nameplates are essential for allowing you to easily keep track of basicdebuffs and quickly select new targets in combat. While ElvUI nameplates docome standard with the AddOn, they are a little limited and occasionallybuggy. Listed below are some good alternatives.
1.5.1. KUI Nameplates
KUI Nameplates offer the highest degree of customization and accuracy. Forexample, you can easily configure the nameplates to enlarge and change colorwhen a target reaches a certain percentage of health, which can be veryhelpful for classes with executes. They always correctly display yourdebuffs, and their click box is very accurate. Some setup is required, although it is very simple and straightforward.
1.5.2. TidyPlates
TidyPlates aren't quite as customizable or accurate as KUI, but they arean improvement over the default UI or the ElvUI nameplates. They are alsogreat out of the box, requiring little to no setup at all, which is a plusfor some players.
1.5.3. Plater
Plater is more of an advanced and highly customizable nameplate compared to KUIwith native support for WeakAuras. Its default profile requires quite some editing.Recommended for players who are not afraid of spending some time to tweak it, with agreater return.
1.6. Damage Meters
Damage meters display a variety of helpful data about what is taking placein combat, from your current DPS (or HPS) to the number of interrupts eachplayer successfully used.
1.6.1. Skada
Skada is a lightweight damage meter that is exceptionally accurate. Itdoesn't take up much memory, which could cause you to lag, and displays awide range of helpful data. This is the recommended damage meter if you logyour raid data to WarcraftLogs.
1.6.2. Details!
Details! is a more heavyweight damage meter, taking up quite a bit ofmemory. It offers extensive in-game analysis tools compared to Skada, however, allowing you to break down your data in depth without leaving thegame. This is the recommended damage meter if you don't log your raid data.
1.7. Extra AddOns
These AddOns are just small trimmings that might make your life a littleeasier.
1.7.1. Mik's Scrolling Battle Text
If you're not satisfied with the default combat text, this AddOn is analternative that allows you to heavily customize your scrolling combat text.Quite a bit of setup is required.
1.7.2. xCT+ Combat Text
Another combat text AddOn with a minimalistic look.
1.7.3. DeathNote
DeathNote displays the last several deaths for each of your party or raidmembers. For 30 seconds prior to their death, a complete timestamp of theircombat log is displayed, showing their current health, what heals theyreceived, what buffs and debuffs they had, whether they used their personalcooldowns, etc. This Addon is helpful for breaking down your own death aswell as finding out whether that guy really did use his Healthstone.
1.7.4. Doom CooldownPulse
Whenever one of your abilities comes off cooldown, this Addon flashes alarge transparent version of the ability in the center of your screen, alerting you that it is off cooldown. You can easily configure what isdisplayed, or use it by default.
1.7.5. Angry Assignments
This Addon allows you to set up text assignments that are displayed toeveryone else in the raid group that has the Addon. Extremely beneficial forraiding guilds, particularly when assigning jobs like interrupt orders, orwhat players are soaking in what quadrants of the room, etc.
1.7.6. Exorsus Raid Tools
A collection of useful tools bundled in a single AddOn, offering statisticsand various modules like raid cooldowns, fight logs, Battle Res status, Notes,Raid Check and Inspect, Invite Tools and Boss mods among others. If you raid, it is an extremely useful Addon to have.
2. Macros for Affliction Warlock

This orders your demon to attack your target.

- /petmoveto
This orders your demon to move to a location specified by you. This macrois especially useful for Demonology, as the Felguard tends to stand atmaximum melee range of its targets. This macro can beuseful for all 3 Warlock specializations, however.

On this page, you will find a number of useful macros and addons to make your life easier when playing your Blood Death Knight in World of Warcraft — Battle for Azeroth (BfA) 8.2.
1. Macros
1.1. Generic Macros for Death Knights
1.1.1. Raise Ally
Best Combat Text Addon Wow
- #showtooltip Raise Ally
- /cast [@mouseover,help][@target]Raise Ally
This macro casts Raise Ally on your mouseover target, if they are afriendly player. Otherwise, it casts Raise Ally on your current target.
1.1.2. Mind Freeze
- #showtooltip Mind Freeze
- /cast [@focus,harm,nodead][] Mind Freeze
This macro allows you to interrupt your focus target, if you have one, andif not to simply interrupt your current target.
1.2. Specific Macros for Blood Death Knights
1.2.1. Gorefiend's Grasp
- #showtooltip Gorefiend's Grasp
- /cast [target=focus] Gorefiend's Grasp
This macro allows you to use Gorefiend's Grasp to grip adds on top ofyour focus target.
- #showtooltip Gorefiend's Grasp
- /cast [@mouseover,exists,nodead][@player] Gorefiend's Grasp
If you have your cursor over a valid target to centerGorefiend's Grasp on, this macro will cast Gorefiend's Grasp at yourcursor. Otherwise, it will center your Gorefiend's Grasp on yourself.
1.2.2. Death and Decay
- #showtooltip Death and Decay
- #show Death and Decay
- /cast [mod:ctrl, @cursor] Death and Decay; [@player] Death and Decay
This will drop Death and Decay at your feet without using the groundtargeting reticle; while holding down CTRL, it will instead cast Death andDecay wherever your cursor is pointing (again, without using the groundtargeting reticle). Since the vast majority of bosses have a large enoughhitbox to be affected by a Death and Decay dropped at your feet, this speeds upcasting and maximizes your ability to shift around and still remain standing inDeath and Decay.
1.2.3. Blessing of Protection Cancelaura Macro
- /cancelaura Blessing of Protection
This macro is very useful to have. It allows you to cancel aBlessing of Protection that may have been cast on you, allowing youto resume your attacks. It is also important because while you are under theeffect of Blessing of Protection, mobs will not attack you and instead will justattack the next person on the aggro list (often a DPS player), though tauntinga mob will still force it to attack you for 3 seconds.
1.2.4. Re-Control Pet
- /target pet
- /run PetDismiss()
- /use Control Undead
- /petassist
In some dungeons (King's Rest, Atal'Dazar), you are able to Control Undead some mobs for additional DPS.
2. Addons
2.1. Generic Addons for Death Knights
2.1.1. ElvUI
Here, at Icy Veins, we useElvUIfor all our characters. This addon is a complete replacement of the defaultUser Interface. It comes with almost everything you need to perform properly:action bars, cooldown timers, proc display, etc.
We strongly recommend that you get this addon and our forum moderator Pandacho has writtena quick configuration guide for it.
2.1.2. Boss Mods: Deadly Boss Mods or Bigwigs
Boss mods are addons that warn you about boss abilities and give youlive advice on how to handle some mechanics. We strongly recommend you toget one such addon. At Icy Veins, we mostly useDeadly Boss Mods, the most popular boss mod. A good alternative isBig Wigs.
2.1.3. GTFO
GTFO is a lightweightaddon that notifies you when you are standing in harmful effects or when youare making other such mistakes. It is very useful, even if your boss mod isalready alerting you of such things.
2.1.4. Parrot or Mik's Scrolling Battle Text
Parrot andMik's Scrolling Battle Text are highlycustomisable addons for displaying floating battle text while in combat (incomingheals, damage of your spells, etc.). They both work very well by default.
2.1.5. Weak Auras
WeakAuras is anextremely useful addon that allows you to have visual effects on your screen, helping you track your buffs, debuffs and cooldowns. It is highly customisableand it can make it much, much easier to keep track of your procs and play yourspec more proficiently. It can also be used for a variety of otherfunctions.
2.1.6. Recount / Skada / Details!
Recount is awell known addon that most people use for displaying current DPS or HPS(Healing Per Second). This add-on is not really lightweight, and provides avery high amount of information (and it can sometimes cause issues withperformance). It is generally a good option to use Recount for checking what youtake damage from and if the share of damage/healing you do with each of yourabilities is similar to that of other players of your class.
An alternative to Recount (similar in function, so the choice is personalpreference) is Details!.
A lightweight alternative to Recount and Details! is Skada Damage Meter.
2.1.7. mRunes
mRunes is a usefulRunic System UI replacement addon that will allow you to keep better track ofyour resources.
2.1.8. Omen Threat Meter
Omen Threat Meteris the most popular addon for displaying the current threat levels on yourtarget. We recommend you to use it to check on your current threat levels andensure that you are not being overtaken in aggro.
2.1.9. Clique
Clique allows you tobind specific spells to be cast as mouseover casts on unit frames. This can bevery useful for casting Raise Ally without changing your target.
2.1.10. Compact Runes
Compact Runesis a great addon for tracking Rune cooldowns, and it also has a number of otherDeath Knight-specific modules to track your buffs, debuffs, and cooldowns.
2.2. Specific Addons for Blood Death Knights
Currently, we do not believe that you need any additional addons to play yourspecialisation to its full potential.
